Student Loan Repayable Funding

Student loans are part of the government’s framework for supporting students in higher education and are administered throughout the UK by the Student Loans Company (SLC), although your application is handled initially by your local authority (LA).



SLC, in partnership with the Department for Education and Skills and LAs, provides information to students via three different websites – Student Finance Direct in England at www.studentsupportdirect.co.uk, Student Finance Wales at www.studentfinancewales.co.uk and Student Finance NI for Northern Ireland at www.studentfinanceni.co.uk.

A different service is provided by SLC in Scotland, where the system is different, so students from there should visit the website of the Student Awards Agency for Scotland at www.student-support-saas.gov.uk.
