Non-repayable Student Loan funding
If you are a student going into higher education you may be eligible for a maintenance grant. Up to £2,700 a year is available from 2006 but you only get the full amount if your household income is less than £17,500. If this figure is between £17,501 and £37,425 you receive a partial grant and if it is more than £37,426 you receive nothing.
Your household income is yours and your parents’ income if you live with them and/or are financially dependent on them, or just yours if you are an independent student – if you are over 25 or married when you start your course, have been supporting yourself for three years or more before starting it or have no living parents.
